Hi, my friend has a 95 Altima,it will start and run for a few seconds, then it dies. My friend took it to a mechanic, and the mechanic told her the distributor is bad, and it costs $700 to replace it. Is this too much? I can't imagine it to be that expensive. Does KA's have bad coil packs like SR's? If not, is the distributor cap and rotor hard to replace? If not I'll just change it for her. Also, could this be the fuel pump? Is there a way to test the pump? Thanks in advance. :help :ylsuper

if you want to check the fuel pump... turn the car on not running just on... and listen for a noise that will stop after like 3 or 4 seconds... that will be the fuel pump priming itself... or you can go to the fuel rail and hook up a fuel pressure tester to the shrader valve and that will tell you if you have enough fuel pressure...

good luck
