is the trigger wire still connected to the starter? I've seen them come off, and there are many ways for a starter to fail, if the selenoid dies it won't do anything, if it's the starter motor you get a click, if the throwout soleniod fails the starter spins but does not engage the flywheel, if the return mechagnisim fails you get a grind
back on the issue, first thing, check your cables, at both ends, be sure that everything is bollted securely and that the ground is grounded to the chassis as well as the engine, also check your fuses, verify the signal wire is connected to the starter, if thats not the issue check for voltage at the signal wire when the key gets turned tot he start position
