Like the title says, my car (1995 Nissan 240sx with KA24det) will not start. The car will turn over but does not start. I am running Nistune but have not yet been able to get the car running.

I have double and triple checked my timing, and even pulled the valve cover off to make sure the cam lobes were facing out to find the TDC of the compression stroke. I am getting fuel because after cranking for about 5 sec, the garage fills with the smell of gas pretty quick. I have also made sure that I am getting a spark on on plugs.

What needs to be checked next? thanks

Try disconnecting the MAF and turning it over. I just wanna see if it'll start in limp home mode. Also, change your oil AS SOON as you figure out how to get it started. Your oil is now full of gas.

thank you for the response.

I have tried disconnecting the MAF and has not helped. I am running a N60 MAF by the way. I want to think its a timing issue, but like I said i have checked and rechecked it.

I am also running a resistor box fo rmy injectors but I am 90 percent sure I wired it correctly.

Thank your for the heads up on the gas in the oil. I will be sure to change the oil as soon as its running.

crank position sensor maybe? does your rpm moves when trying to crank it?

also how long has this problem occured? did you just turboed your car and can't get it started or you had it turboed for awhile now

I dont have any Nistune experience...is the MAF set for the N60? Is there a base map with Nistune?

I don't know much about about the crank position sensor. How would I know if it is bad? The rpm's do not move when I am cranking it.

There is no N60 MAF in Nistune, which was really disappointing to learn. Although there is a "J30-VG30E (300 HP)" option which I figured would be the closest to the N60.

thanks for your help again guys...

if the tach isnt moving you have an issue in the ignition system. I had a hell of a time when my friend kicked my chip, it in turn fried out my chip and somehow or another the wth is it called the thing that goes next to the coil ignitor.

Are you referring to the Power transistor? Can this be bad while i still get spark? I am still getting spark when cranking. What was your car doing before you realized you needed to replace the power transistor?

The J30 is the N60 right? The Z maf being the N62. So you should be good to go there.

I'll read up on Nistune tonight and see what I can figure out for troubleshooting. Where the F are the guys that have tuning experience here

We used to have a tight crew...people seem to have moved on. GAY

I'm not sure if the N60 is the J30. I know the N60 is from the Nissan Maxima and the hp range is very similar, that's why I decided to use it.

But lets say this was not correct, would this really cause it to not start? The car should still start, just not well. right?

Let me know what you find out from Nistune. Thanks again man.

and your right, where is everyone???

thats it the power transistor, thank you lol

yes I still had spark, it was all over the place though, and very weak looking.

Have you removed the maf plug to see if that has anything to do with it, also did you remove the jumper on the ecu to allow control via the d/b and nistune?

pull the codes?

I left but I will always come back wd, I blew my ish and almost killed me and a friend when the car caught fire. Kinda discouraged me for a bit, but I realized I have too much love to stop. right now the flame shoots towards the ground so its not much of an issue anymore. but it looks sick on vid doing donuts, like neons for drifting end jack/

I actually sent the ecu out to someone to do, normally I would have done it myself but didnt have the time.

I thought with Nistune you are unable to pull codes. Am I still able to see codes the ecu is throwing?

Also, did you replace just the Power transistor or the entire distributor unit? From what I am hearing you need to replace the entire distributor.
