I drove my '06 M45S home one day and the next morning it would not respond to the proximity key to gain entry, would not respond to the prox key to start with the button and would not respond to the prox key in the dash port. The lights don't come on, the trunk will not open. I charged the battery to no avail, removed the cables for several minutes and finally resorted to touching the cables together with no result. I'm reluctant to take to the dealer without determining if anyone else has experienced this. Don't need a massive bill for troubleshooting a known issue.
Thanks!

Welcome.

Are you sure your battery is holding that charge?

What happens if you jump the car? How about another battery? Was the battery tested by a shop to be in good condition (Autozone, etc.)?

On my parent's Nissan it had a dead battery. We could not jump it until we actually disconnected the battery completely and hooked the jumper wires to the battery cables. It was enough to drive it home and put a new battery in it.

Thank you for your replies- the battery has tested fine, so that variable has been eliminated. Jumping the battery did not produce any results. The large fuses surrounding the battery appear fine with no evidence of any of them being blown. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and have the car towed to the Infiniti dealer. Integrity does not live there.

I had the same problem in my M56. No-start with partially drained battery (after playing with audio fora while in ACC mode). I had enough battery for lights, but not for starting. Rapid clicks from starter relay instead. Boost failed, so did a plug-in battery charger. All I got was "Warning: Key system". THis means key fob was not recognized. Awk! But overnight, the battery died 100% the rest of the way. Totally dead, no LED lights, even. Then a jump-start did work. Yay! It's been fine ever since.

Next time, I'll try to disconnect the battery before I jump-start. Maybe it'll help? That's known as a "cold" boot, in computer geek terminology.

Infiniti dealership looked at it a week later, and found nothing wrong. Of course. I don't know if they tried to drain the battery. They said my battery, alternator, and key-fob batteries all tested OK.

To me, this is a wireless communication error. Much like my laptop cannot talk to my home wireless router if the laptop battery is low. Perhaps it's the same thing? These little wireless "radios" are fussy? And they might need to be rebooted, just like Microsoft Windows? Grrr.

Id still try putting a different battery in. Sounds like a battery. Make sure the connections are not corroded. This post is a month old I hope you figured it out by now though.
