Well I am sorry for having to make this kind of post, I have done alot of engine swaps but I can not figure this problem out, maybe you all can help out:bash . The car is a 91 240 , I took out the engine because it was blown and replaced with a rebuilt one. I try to start it up and it turns over great but will not fire. I have checked timing, spark, fuel, compression, relays/fuses. (Timing) checked and it is correct. (Spark) I checked spark at all plugs and at coil and all sparked. (Fuel) I hear pump prime, When I pull plugs they smell of gas, and took line off at the rail and fuel came out. (Compression) Did compression test and was fine, also if you plug cylinder with finger you feel it. (Relays) replaced the egi and egi pump relay. (Fuses) checked all fuses under hood and at kick panel. I looked over my harness and did not see any missed grounds etc. If I can remember correctly, 2 at the battery/relaybox(not includeing the neg bat cable), one at front of valvecover, and one at back right side of valvecover. I don't have a clue where to go with it now im stumped. If anyone has any insight etc pls respond.

ThanksAndy

check your wiring harness for cut or broken wires. the place to check is the part of the harness that is close to the fan area. I had same problem and found a cut ground wire in the harness where the fan had been hitting it.

Well checked and to no avail. The only grounds on the engine harness are at the injectors front of block and the other ground is next to the soilinoids at back of block. Every time I turn it over and check the plugs they are soaked in gas. Maybe that means that it is flooding out. Might have problem with fuel injector, but all of them are soaked not just 1 like if an injector was stuck open? Im going to spary some starting fluid and see if I can even get it to run for little bit then go from there, and maybe try some new plugs also.

Well finally got it started and runing. Changed out the dizzy as a last resort thing( I would have been screwed if I did not have an extra one, because I don't know anyone elese with a 240 :-( ). Anyway I put on diffrent one and it fired right up. Hopefully this thread may help someone who has the same problem I had.

Oh no worries, Dizzy is term for the distributor. Kind of like saying transmission instead of transmission. etc
