Hi I am a new maxima owner, I have a 2001 maxima that has been sitiing in my driveway for 2 months. Yesterday I go to start it and the engine would turn over but would not start. So I decided to step on the gas and try to start it turned over fine. However, as soon as I took my foot off the gas the car would turn off again. So I tried this several times and received the same result. In short the car will not idle on its own without one depressing the gas pedal a little bit as soon as one lets go of the gas pedal the car will shut off.

TO me it seems like a fuel delivery issue, however I am stumped as to what would be causing this. There is no CEL on and as long as I am keeping my foot on the gas the engine runs fine but as soon as I let go the car will shut off. ANy ideas ? Thanks in advance

Welcome to NICO.

The first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter. Then I would put fresh gas and some BG44K in the tank, and see if the problem cleared up.
