I'm curious to know the farthest north location you've lived and how it got there.
Caked on salt that doesn't get removed will also ruin your car. A few days of subfreezing temps with constant road salt will have anyone rethinking the "its never too cold" philosophy. There are times it physically is too cold, with water freezing in the hose preventing a steady flow or clogging it up completely or water drops freeze on the car long before there is a chance to wipe them off. There's also the added benefit of getting an underbody wash when its highly unlikely most owners have the patience, or initiative to do this even when its above 60 degrees not to mention when the temps drop down near zero.
The sealants, protectors and other crap that they offer are all gimmicks and can potentailly do more harm than good to your paint though. Buy the lowest end wash available as it will likely have the least (and hopefully none) bundled with it. Save your detailed washing for home by your own hand. The main objective should be to get road contamination off of the car. It should go without saying that its not really worth doing if the roads are still white with sand and/or salt...wait until they have been cleaned up a bit.
Kuhan - are you going to the drive through on Rand Rd near Mt. Prospect? Always used to take my 240 & my Explorer through there when temps got somewhere near freezing.
