Take it to a touch-free car wash. Got my Z washed last night.

If it's too cold to do it by hand, I say go for a touch free car wash as well.

Its never too cold...you will get used to it once you do it for a time or two. Never take it through a car wash...it will ruin both your wax and paint job!!

Here is the website I buy everything for mine on http://zainostore.com/

This is the absolute best stuff you can use on your Z!!

I'm curious to know the farthest north location you've lived and how it got there.

Caked on salt that doesn't get removed will also ruin your car. A few days of subfreezing temps with constant road salt will have anyone rethinking the "its never too cold" philosophy. There are times it physically is too cold, with water freezing in the hose preventing a steady flow or clogging it up completely or water drops freeze on the car long before there is a chance to wipe them off. There's also the added benefit of getting an underbody wash when its highly unlikely most owners have the patience, or initiative to do this even when its above 60 degrees not to mention when the temps drop down near zero.

The sealants, protectors and other crap that they offer are all gimmicks and can potentailly do more harm than good to your paint though. Buy the lowest end wash available as it will likely have the least (and hopefully none) bundled with it. Save your detailed washing for home by your own hand. The main objective should be to get road contamination off of the car. It should go without saying that its not really worth doing if the roads are still white with sand and/or salt...wait until they have been cleaned up a bit.

Kuhan - are you going to the drive through on Rand Rd near Mt. Prospect? Always used to take my 240 & my Explorer through there when temps got somewhere near freezing.

True it gets colder in other parts of the country than Tenn...but I was talking about if by washing your car means you ONLY take it to the automatic ones and never actually take the time to wash it yourself. If you live up north and it gets all that crap on your car in the first place...why are you even driving your Z during the winter? To get all that stuff off all you have to do is just drive to a car wash place and instead of going throuh the touch less car wash get out and just spray it off with the sprayer. Most places even have hot water for you to use.

I have never taken my Z to the car wash.I might be alone on this one but I look forward to washing my car. It's our special time, just the car and me ; )

Seriously though, I like washing my car, it allows me to check out any dings or scratches so that I might have not otherwise seen.

AND, it never gets all that cold where I live; so I don't have to worry about hypothermia or anything.

If I lived in a colder climate then maybe my opinion about automatic car washes might be different.

True That.I got my 08' Nismo last July, had to take stickers off that read something like " No Automatic or HighPower Hoses". So, I wash by hand as well. Best results, never miss a spot!

Richie for someone who as lazy as you, the one who doesn't google search simple questions and lacks knowledge of some basic common sense, I highly doubt you hose down the underside of your car everyday.

I take my roadster to that car wash with all the little foamy fingers that go round and round. the touchless wash is a waste of money.

nooooo! that can leave tiny scratches in your paint, use the touchless to get most of the dirt off, and then go home and handwash/detail your car!

It's the other way around my friend...those kinds of carwashes are the ones that hurt your paint. Everytime those little foamy fingers touch your car, they leave microscopic scratches on your paint. Touchless is the way to go if you must.

^ the East is a very tough place to keep your car's paint from being scratch free. They have snow, ice and salt that constantly damage their car's exterior. So I guess if little foamy fingers gets the job done...do it. I personaly just take mine to a Handwash place and detail it at home.

anywhere there is snow sucks for sports cars. California FTW!

The salt will not effect your car in freezing temps or temps in the 30's...when it starts getting warm that's when a car wash is a must.

Mine is stored for the winter....I also have hot & cold water in my garage...my baby has never seen a car wash & in fact only 4 times in the rain.

TOUCHLESS WASH FTW!

Personally (i might get flamed but eff it) i don't know why people buy a seasonal car to drive year round... not that it can't be done, its just a PITA, and you risk damaging so much/ruining the car. For example: I see so many guys driving vettes in this stuff with salt covering them from top to bottom. If you want to have a sports car, cool go for it, but have a plan B. (let the difference in opinion begin)

I don't see that many vettes in the winter.... actually not many sports cars either on the road here in Ohio. The vettes that you do see are probably leased.

you're not in columbus either.... LOL they are everywhere.... not to segregate but mostly middle aged men that want to look like they have money for the younger girls...

edit: and they don't know how to drive them. i should not own a C5 twice in a row (the second time he tried to pull a ricer move too)
