Just completed my 5speed swap. However I'm noticing that sometimes/usually when I start it, it will die down quickly unless I give it throttle. Is it because I'm starting in gear or is it because I'm running an Auto ECU? Or is this completely normal and I'm just a newb to manuals lol

I know about the weird idle during cold days with an Auto ECU, but its extremely hot outside lol

its def not the ecu. theres rumors and myths that auto ecus make it run funny on a 5 spd car. but i ran an auto ecu and 2 other local guys are currently running them. no idle issues or anything different from the 5 spd ecu happened because of the auto ecu.

op- your problem could be a number of things, vac, fouled sensor, iacv, bad ground etc

i did my swap recently and i unplugged a few vac lines to reach some of the bellhousing bolts at the top. Check your vac lines.

so its not the ECU? hmm will have to check vac lines then. I only have to give it a little bit of throttle, 5-6 seconds at the most and its fine after that.

No, I don't think so. I'm suspecting a problem somewhere on fuel line. Maybe fuel pump is going bad?

Fuel pump is brand new...walbro 255.

The car starts perfectly fine, its just the revs will drop right away towards 0 and the car kind of sputters. If I touch the throttle after starting, then its runs fine.
