for some unknown reason i fixed that same problem on my S13....by moving the tps connector away from the engine, since i have aftermarket(crappy ebay...sight) intake, and i had to do some modding to the hoses that came from the IACV and the valve cover(pretty much used a T to connect the valve cover hose and the iacv to the 1 hole on the intake, since there wasn't 2) and so the tps connector hangs out of 1 of those hoses and it was touching the engine, so i guess it'd get too hot and cause the engine to idle up and down 1k to 200rpm's till it would just stall.

i moved that cable away from the engine and it idles very well now.

well i was disconection my battery to reset the ecu and it would work for a while....but then it'll go back to turning off and crap...so i disconected the battery along with unpluging the ecu for a good few hours and now it is super smooth at idle....??????????????i think it was that time of the month for my car(it goes through its women cycles)

oh shoot. ... my idle would get high for a while until I would go mess with that tps connector and then it would go down.... the wires look fine.. not loose or anything... maybe it did get hot like he said :-)

mine just died when i started it..but when it died, i opened up the idle screw a little and it purrs like a kitten.. also, i started shifting better, so i guess that could have an affect..

everytime i stalled, rpms hesistated, smelled like **** (exhaust)flooded cylinders/running pig rich.

thats was fix to my problem.. the little screw lol..

my idle is great for a little while... then it falls to almost dying... then it idles erratically moving between <500rpm and up to 900.

i tried holding the throttle to about 1.2k rpm and even there the idle moves up/down by about 2-300 rpm.

also during accelleration, even very light like at 1/8 throttle, it hesitates in between 2k an 3k rpm. when i am coming to a stop the car dies, esp when im on my brakes.

this all happens eratically, and is not dependent on the outside temp.

any ideas? i have an aftermarket intake but the tps looks to be okay...

I have been having this problem for a while it seems to have something to do with my ECU or the sensors I have tried two different MAF still same thing but if I unplug the MAF the idle smooths out... I checked the MAF plug and it was rusted and crap so I replaced it but it still acts the same.. I think it's my ECU... it's not throwing any codes... What does not make sence is if I give it any gas it runs GREAT and has plenty of power... gas mileage is fine it's just one of these stupid sensors or the ECU is messing up my idle.

kenrik i hope to God its not an ecu prob here.

but if none of the easy stuff helps i can only assume it is right? would that also account for the hesitation in between2k and 3k rpms under accel?

Why what's wrong with it being an ECU problem? they sell them for $10 at the junkyard and about $10-$20 on ebay... I was actually thinking of going to the junkyard tomarrow and pulling an extra ECU just to have one on hand.

not many around here in the junkyards, they get bought up fast for some reason.

i could source the part at a HUGE markup through a nissan specialty place that goes and buys them from yards and parts em out, but what happens if its bad too?

I bet it's an AIV problem. Pull off the AIV hose at idle and see if it's sucking or blowing. You want sucking.

im having trouble during accelleration on top of poor idle.

kenrik does your ever car die when you are braking or coasting to a stop?

I had the same problem at idle where the rpms would bounce and the engine would stall out.BUT when i cleaned the AIV and the MAF sensor the car is running perfect. So if you havent cleaned these already I can safely say that this is your problem.

Clean the tb then if it is not fixed put on new wires and plugs. This is a simple part of tune that most ignore for harder fixes like ecu and new tps. Also, read the post about Free mod to reduce stock ultra-rich fuel mapping I tried this, and it made all worries go away.
