My car is a 1996 infiniti Q45. I am trying to identify the problem. my car has been stalling intermittent. but the other day is start bucking at speed of 75 mph ,to the point that when i press even more on the accelerator the RPM didn't increase or move up at all. Then it kicked in for two minutes and then start bucking again. Both times the RPM gauge did not increase when I depress the gas pedal. Also the engine did not rev up with the gas pedal depress. Is this a Transmission problem symptom?

Have the OBD2 codes read to determine problem, luckily you have T3 Automotive near you on Cobb road for expert help. http://WWW.t3auto.com

While difficult to diagnose given the description, at first guess I'd say you have a fuel delivery problem (pump-filter-injector etc) since the issue manifests itself under fairly high engine load or an ignition problem. It could be a simple as a badly clogged FF, or much mope complicated.

The transmission may be suspect too, but that's another thread. If the engine revved up and the car didn't accelerate then I'd say your main problem is the trans. Fix the bucking first.

135K is a lot or miles if the fuel delivery system is original and has been neglected.

The site has some highly experienced Q owners on it. Provide good info and you will receive it in return.

good luck.

With no maintenance history, I would suspect fuel pressure first and MAF connection second.

Your best and cheapest bet is to let T-3 in Smyrna take a look at it and give you a list of systems that are failing due to deferrred maintenance and post the results back to us for triage. This type of behavior just doesn't happen spontaneously.

Yup, get a fuel pressure test, first. Do you have a loud buzzing sound from the trunk? Q45 fuel pumps only last about 120,000 miles or so.
