My versa was recently towed and I have no idea how they did it or if they did it correctly. The guy said the wheels never touched the ground. It is an automatic, in park, without the e-brake on. Is there anything I can do to check the transmission or should I take it in to the dealer to get looked at? I am a little paranoid...

They either used a roll back and winched it up on the bed or used one of the kind that your front tires rest on a u shaped apparatus that picks the front off the ground and tows on the back wheels.

I doubt they would have used the roll back if you had it in park.

My wife's CRV is not supposed to be towed in any shape or form as it is AWD and you can damage it if it isn't put on a roll back type wrecker.

As long as the car was flat-bedded, you should be fine. My only concern is this; there are no good places to hook onto in the front, and odds are, the guy didn't use the threaded eye-bolt. Check your front suspension for signs of someone hooking onto the arms, bending them.

This occurred out of town, but I gave them a call today and asked then to fax me a copy of the receipt and how they towed my car. They were very unclear about it. All I can remember is that they used a front dolly or something. How do I go about checking the suspension myself?

Dang that would have gotten me mad in the pants. What did it get towed for?

The simplest and most common tow is using a set of turn-out forks on an arm. The tines of the forks cradle the front tires. The arm is raised and the front end comes off the ground. It's actually quite gentle, and better than the old sling type. If the e-brake was off, the car can roll on the rear tires without any issues at all. (The rear tires are only there to hold the rear end up anyway. )

I doubt any damage was done by the tow.

My ride was towed in recent days and eveything checked out okay with the car thank GOD. But........the bill was not as lucky being at $211 and some change!! Even though they may be jackers for your money, they know what they are doing when a car needs to be towed..........well, most of them I believe. Pretty sure your ride is okay dude.

My father runs a flatbed on the weekends, and it isn't gentle on the car at all if the e-brake is applied and the car is in park. As a matter of fact, they once had to tow a VW Passat with malfunctioning anti-theft device (all four brakes lock up solid) and they ripped the suspension out from under the car while dragging it onto the truck.
