So I just bought this 300zx that was sitting in a garage for about 8 years , the owner wanted to make it a project drift car but never finished it, I just recently noticed that there's a problem with how fast it goes ... It's slow af . When I let go of the clutch and give it gas , it takes a while for it to rev up to 2k RPM's and after the clutch engages the revs drop down about 200rpms and when the engine runs hot itll take even longer to rev up and the RPM's will drop by about 600 and to make it even worse it bogs as I step on the gas , when I do get it going it seems to take a long time gain speed, and if I really lay down the pedal(WOT) it takes literally a minute to get to 5.5k RPM's at first I thought it was the transmission because the shifter felt hella loose but later realized that a few screws where loose and after tightening those down , now it feels ok. Another thing is that whenever I have the car in neutral and step on the gas , the RPM's go up slow. And drop down fast , I let a few friends test drive my car and they all described it as feeling "restricted" or "clogged" . On a side note sometimes It is responsive when I step on the gas hard but it won't go any faster than a 4 cylinder and when I let go of the gas after getting up too 4k RPM's in any gear it back fires like a MOFO. Anyways if like to know what you guys think let me know about any solutions to this problem and if there's more you'd like to know

You are miss firing. Probably your engine is running on 4 cylinders.

Find out what cylinder is not working and we will go from there.

Check for fuel and spark. It would also be a great idea to change the spark plugs after the car has been sitting for 8 years. Replace all fluids like motor oil and gas. Z32's require 91 octane or higher.

Check the guide stickied at the top of the forums. Perform the 6P's, check for ECU codes, and then get back to us. Also z32.wikispaces.com is a great resource.
