Car still wont start :(

I went to start my car, and it still wont start. It turns over. No spark is getting to the plugs though. We set the coil wire next to coil and the spark jumps there. We then hooked up the coil and the wire set next to the distributor cap, spark jumps. We unplug the spark plug and no spark.

What could it be?!?!?!? Its DRIVING me nuts!!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the spark is jumping next to the cap, but isn't getting through, the problem could be anything from the cap down to the plugs. That means check the cap (and rotor?), wires, and plugs to make sure there's electricity flowing through everything

you should definitely open the cap and see what condition it's in. The problem might not even be spark, it could be that the distributor rotor isn't even turning. Take off the cap, inspect the rotor and cap. With the cap off, have someone crank the engine and watch and make sure the rotor is spinning. If the rotor is spinning, replace the cap and rotor and your problem SHOULD be solved. Make sure you remember which wire goes where before you mix em up.
