Car stereo not keeping power PLZ help

ok well for some reason my car stereo keeps turning off when im drving or when ever o press like the skip button to to chance the settings on it.. Its only my ignition power because it keep my time and everything and i dont know what to do. Try to keep my car nice and when i have people in my car and it keeps turning off... its getting dam annoying. Is there something i can do i have no idea to what to do sorry noob when it comes to stuff like this

How often does it cut out? If it's very often then simply pull the radio out of the dash, with the plug still connected, and put a multi-meter or test light on the ignition feed for the radio. Check to see if you lose power on that wire when it cuts out. If not, then you have a bad radio. If you do lose power on that wire then you will want to try to trace the problem down or simply run a new ignition feed to the radio.

hm... never thougth of that.. well it happens alot..over a hard bump or just random but never really when im driving just strait but ill try that tomorrow thanks alot

Yeah once you pull the radio out you can kind of pull/tug on wires and slap the top of the radio to see if you can mimic going over bumps etc.

sure will and if it is the wire and not the stereo were can i get another ignition power from?

Also, I have seen connections on the back of the faceplate get a little dirty and do similar things.

Good call! Usually more so on flip down face radios also.
