Ok so i have a 89 240sx with the stock KA24E and here's the problem im having.
I try to start the car and it wont start, I can smell gas and i know im getting spark and I cleaned my MAF when i got the car which was about 3 months ago.(need air, fuel, and spark i know).
I can pull the fuel pump fuse turn the key and it will fire up and then i rush around to throw the fuse back in and it runs. I cant for the life of me figure out if its my FRP, injectors, or something else that is causing the problems. This doesnt happen all the time but is happening more and more often so i need to fix this asap. Im lost so any help would be great.

check the ECU for any blinking lights when you turn the screw for the self diagnostic test. never heard of any problem like this tho

This is awesome, a good friend of mine had this EXACT same issue with his single cam. I don't even remember how we figured out that we needed to take the fuse out to get it to run. I believe the engine may have been flooded and we figured we would try it.

We never figured out the issue as he decided to get a new project with a DOHC KA but i believe i thought it was the injectors or possibly the fuel pressure regulator causing the problem. Good luck!

thanks man, i checked for any error codes and there werent any, so trouble shooting it the old school way is whats gonna have to the happen. Im guessing i can check for a stuck open injector by pulling the injector harness plug and if the motor doesnt start to die then it must be stuck open. Kinda like when you have a bad injector making the motor run like crap you pull the plugs to see if it runs worse or not to figure out which ones are working right and which one isnt. Dont really know of a way to test the FPR besides pulling the vac hose or an in line gauge.

im replacing the injectors with some from a stanza and see if that fixes the problem. the ka24e in the stanza and the one in the 240's use the same size and flow rate top feed injectors.

it doesnt bog down or die once its running so thats why i was leaning harder towards the injectors. i plan on putting the injectors in from the stanza this afternoon to see if it happens to fix the problem. if its not the injector's then at least i will have an extra set and then just replace the FPR.
