I recently regained possession a 1992 240sx that I had given my brother-in-law. Needless to say he trashed it and I have to fix. But that’s another story. However it does not start unless you push start it. If you turn the key all the electronics work except it will not start. Nothing. No noise, just nothing. I had an old starter around and changed it out still no go. The ignition switch is very loose and I am leaning towards replacing it next. Is there any way to test it before I try figuring out to take it apart because I have never done that. The battery seems to be charged up also. Is there anything else I should check first?

Make sure your starter is good first before you start messing around with other stuff. Take it to your local autoparts store, they usually test them for free or a small fee.

Easiest thing to check is the rubber pad for the clutch switch. This could have fallen apart/off. This same thing happen to me a while back

What these guys said. The exact name for it is the neutral safety switch. Definitely check that first. It's the easiest thing you can do.

Second, I would check the starter relay. IIRC, it's under a front fender. I can't remember which one, but it'll be pretty much by itself, and it's blue. I'm leaning towards the battery side, you'll see it.

If that doesn't work, check the starter itself.

If that doesn't work, check the electronics portion right after the lock cylinder. Should be wrapped in brown looming.

If none of those things work, you have a serious problem, lol.
