Hi,

My 2000 i30t 104k starts up fine and drives fine. When the car has been running awhile and then the transmission is shifted to park, the idle drops after a minute or two and then the cars stalls. It starts right back up. No engine light.

It never stalls in drive, or when the AC is running, power steering load, etc.

Initially thinking it was some "extra air" entering, I did the following:

Cleaned MAF with cleaner (carefully), replaced air filter, cleaned throttle body with cleaner, cleaned IACV, relearned idle air (without scan tool), replaced plugs, replaced PCV, listened for Vac leaks.

All of this helped a little, but the car is back to its old ways. I didn't check the EGR (didn't have a super long allen to get in there) and I haven't replaced the fuel filter or checked pump pressure (doubt if it has ever been replaced).

I also have not checks to see if the IACV, TPS, etc. are working properly (with multimeter, etc.), I just cleaned them.

I know all of this shade tree mechanic troubleshooting is half-a** so please forgive my ignorance. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

You can try running some Sea Foam through the intake to clean it out, and see if that helps (could possibly help clean the EGR passages as well).

Its definately the Air Mass Sensor/MAF, I have a 2000 i30 and had the exact same problem and no one could figure it out. Then I just changed the sensor myself(very easy) off ebay, and reset the ecu by removing the battery cords overnight and Bam the problem was fixed and my car ran great never stalled again.

My guess is IACV, I'm not familiar with autos but it sounds like it's doing it while idling so i'd look to the IACV. It could be the MAF, but from what you said it seems more likely to be the IACV.
