Ok I have a problem I desperatley trying to figure out. Whenever I make a left of any kind or a hard right my rear end on my S14 makes this squealing noise. Now I know I need to replace both lower rear control arms because they're both bent up from being tightened down to much on a flatbed towtruck (that or someone used a jack on them). Their bent bad enought that I can't get a good alignment on the rear wheels (.033 on the left and .133 on the right). if I replace them will the squealing go away or is it the wheel bearings. I should also mention I just had my front inner tie rods replaced (left i know, I don't know about the right) the squealing didnt start until then (I also got an alignment then) could this squealing noise be caused by the control arms or is it something else? It doesn't matter what speed Im going, if I turn left it squeals even if I'm just crawling along or if I'm at highway speed. I think I hear it when I'm driving down the highway too, but that could be from the auto trans (it's been a looong time since I've driven an automatic transmission). This is driving me nuts, I'm going to replace the control arms regardless because the they are eating up my rear tires, especially my right one. So my question is this:

Is the squealing caused by the control Arms?

Is it caused by the new tie rod (could it be on to tight or too lose)?

Or is the noise cause by the wheel bearings or maybe the rear wheels rubbing a little on the brake caliper from the misalignment?

I need to fix this, it's driving me nuts and it's really embarrassing to be driving around and squealing when I turn. Oh and no it's not the tires squealing, I know that sound, this is like a metal on metal squeal, like when the brake pads are about gone, but it does it when whether the brakes are pressed or not, and the brakes are stellar so I know it's not the pads.

Come on guys, I'm seriously trying to figure out what could be squealing here, and help or advice would be great.

Check to see if your squeal indicator from the brake pad is touching the rotor on the rear for both sides. Sounds silly, but its just a suggestion, because you mentioned you had no idea what it could be. Good Luck and I will keep you posted if I have any more ideas.

i honestly dont think that your control arm would cause a squeeling noise, it would more likely be your wheel bearings making any kind of noise. but in concern with mss5413's post, your car would squeel all the time and stop when u hit your breaks if your pads are worn out. im guessing its your wheel bearings. it only makes the noise when you make hard right or left hand turns right? no other time though?

it makes the noise when I make any kind of left turn and hard rights no matter what speed I'm going. If it is my wheel bearings, how much would it cost for me to fix them and If I order the parts do they come in sets or will I have to by parts for each wheel?

dantech on advertiser's specials.

I believe you can buy separate wheel bearings - about $100 a piece I believe.

You need a hub puller to separate hub from bearing (available at autozone) & probably need to remove your spindle to take the hub out. You will need a press to get them back in (so maybe a local shop).

Of, you can just pull the hub and check the wheel bearings and do a little dremel polish to see if it helps or if there is any obviously fugged up bearing.
