Okay, the never ending problems continue....

My car currently sounds almost like a deisel, though not as loud. It idles just fine, but give it any throttle and it sounds like a cross between a deisel, and an old VW beetle.

I thought I was just hearing an exhaust leak at the wastegate-dp flange, so I picked up and installed a new gasket. It helped reduced the noise, (the old gasket was toast) but now I can hear the VW beetle sound more distinctly (less louder, but more distinct).

When I first heard the noise, I thought my turbo was toast. Took it off, inspected it and the blades looked fine. There was virtually no shaft play in either direction and spins freely too. Inspected the oil center section, and it was lubed up.

I listened more carefully today, and it's hard to tell where exactly the noise is coming from. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the turbo directly, but it's almost like it's coming from the O2 sensor at the top of my dp or in that general vicinity. I know that sounds strange, but not sure how else to explain it....

I appreciate your time in reading this and I really hope for some input, help or something.

Thanks!!!!

I don't believe it's rod knock, since I haven't pushed the motor at all. I'm thinking it's some sort of exhaust leak, but I really have had a hard time locating it. I'll probably take everything apart tomorrow and inspect for a bad weld or something.

I hope it's just a leak at the wg-dp connection or a crack on the dp. I would be disappointed if the jgs mani was cracked.
