Car Softward Upgrade--Not Nav

So, the other day my SES light on my '08 G35S came on. Car running fine, gas cap fine, no obvious problem. Followed the reset procedure listed elsewhere in the forum which worked but light came right back. Figured, ok, must be a sensor issue.

Finally was able to get to dealer today (I live some distance from my only area dealer). Haven't got the car back (in a loaner) but they called to say it's ready. Only issue was they needed to do some sort of software update/upload to the car's system (can't remember what the cars "brain" is called). Anyhow, that cleared the problem. Then, they called back to tell me, "oh yeah, bring all the keys you have in cuz we need to reprogram them too."

So, with the holiday and my work schedule I can't get the car till Saturday..maybe Friday before work..so I won't be able to grill them about the nature of this update until later--but it seemed to have a major impact on the electronics for the engine (control module!! HA! I remember).

Am hoping in the meantime someone here had the same issue or knows about it--or are they full of crap? I didn't find anything on my site search, but I also didn't check too hard.

UPDATE: Got the car back this morning. Asked service writer exactly what the upgrade entailed and, as typical, he was non-specific other than there being a TSB for the issue. I'm sure he knew--maybe not--and I don't know why her couldn't/wouldn't be more forthcoming. Oh well, it works, that's all I care about.

As an interesting aside, since they did whatever they did including reprogramming the keys, I now have a key battery level indicator display for about a minute when I start the car. Never had this before. Kinda cool and useful..wonder if that was included in the update or if it was always there and for some reason not working.

whats up dude. ya it was a normal update. in other words they remapped your ecu. computer. here is a good site for listed TSBs for you yours is in there i just cant look it up at work.
