DMSR,Welcome to NICO. That is an interesting problem. Did you check your wires to the battery? I would start there first.

Did you bring your car to a dealer for the recall it had. Something with the crank shaft senor which makes the car turn off in the middle of driving. You should have recieved a notice in the mail (i did for my 2003 altima).

It is the Crank Positioning Sensor. The same thing happened to me. It is a recall and it should be fixed for free.

unfortunately it's only covered if you're under the 5 year 60k mile powertrain warranty...so if your car has over 60k miles and you don't have an extended warranty, I'm afraid you're SOL and will have to pay to get it fixed...not sure how much a CPS costs but it's not that labor intensive, which is good...

I didn't have to pay but i remember when looking at the reciept that it was only like $130 or something like that. Definately no more than $200.

I have a 2005 Altima and it does the same thing. Shuts off whenever. I replaced the crank sensor and did not solve the problem. Stilhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zeropost?cmd=reply&id=2193423#zer...423#l doing the same thing!

There is also a ecu reprograme that needs to be done along with the above mentioned recall for the sensors. i would also check that your mass air flow meter is pluged in good and make sure your air intake duct work is installed good and tight do you still get fuel pressure and spark when it does die and will not restart?
