hey guys,

first the car is a 2004 G35X stock no mods,

yesterday i replaced my stock airfilter with the k&n drop in airfilter, and i had the sensor already off the airfilter and told my gf to let the car roll back a bit so i can have better access, what she did is started the engine for like 5sec. and turned it back off after i yelled at her..

so i replaced the air filter, put everything back together and started the car and the serve engine soon light came on. so i drove to the next auto parts store and the error codes said:

P0102
P0102 Pending
P0113

after research i saw that lots of people had these errors after replacing the air filter and said ecu reset or just drive around for couple days it will turn off automaticly.

so i did the ecu reset over night, put the battery back on this morning and started the car, everything was fine. So i drove around, parked the car and came back after an hour to start the car and now i have following problem:

i start the car and then it cranks up and all of the sudden the rpm drop to 0 and the car shuts off and the serve engine light comes on again.

if i start the car and if the rpm go down to 0 and i hit the gas peddle only once or many times doesn't matter it stays on without a problem and no engine light.

so my questioin is,

is it normal after a ECU reset maybe the car has just to get adjusted again

or did i brake any sensors? i looked it up and the mass air flow sensor is 300 bucks

then i tried to reset the Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning, reset the Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning, reset the Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)

nothing worked so far, i just dont know what else to do..

If you removed the sensor, then you could have damaged it...

no need to remove the MAF sensor when changing the air filter...

hopefully its just an confused ECU... id try hard reseting with the battery cable off like someone said... if that dont work see what the dealer saids... yeah the MAF is an expensive part...

This may sound silly, but when a car was towed in for it, it seems less silly. Is the air filter still wrapped?
No sensor needs to be removed for an air filter replacement. the old filter just gets slid out and the new one in, make sure, if you removed it, that the sensor is facing the right direction.

Did you install the filter correctly?

Try removing the K&N filter and replace with a Infiniti filter to see if the error codes clear

Sorry for the late reply to the party but here are my $0.02

K&N filters are great but users have tendency to over oil them and therefore foul the MAF sensor. There is specially designed cleaner for the MAF that you can use or electrical contact cleaner works well too. I suggest that you remove the new filter, return to the old filter, clean the MAF and you should be good to go.

Clean the new K&N filter well and oil LIGHTLY and replace - you should be all set!
Best of luck & keep us posted.

You could always install an aftermarket intake....The R2C does not use oil in the filter.

I have one in my G37 and love it!
