When I'm going about 55mph, the car shakes really bad and the steering wheel vibrates as well. After 55 it goes away, and when I'm slowing down the wheels make a thumping sound and feels like if I was going over bumps. What the hell is going on...

Is it possible that some of the front suspension bushing are worn, I haven't had a chance to jack up the car to check out the bushings, tie rods, ect. And the car also shakes, and steering becomes difficult.

I had that prob my bushings were really worn out. It kinda sucks cause you cant really push your car to its limit cause you feel like its gonna fall apart

possible, but i dont see how it can lead to vigourous shaking, unless the road is bumpy as hell... i'm thinking the wheels homie... just hope its the tires that need balancing and that your wheels arent warped for whatever reason

i would be 97.252% sure that you need your wheels rebalanced. if it still shakes, inspect your tires and see if you find any uneven wearing of your tires. if so, get new tires. my car needed an alignment badly and i, being the lazy *** I am, didn't get one until my car shook like crazy. i actually drove a few months before i got an alignment. the tires were too messed up and i had to get some new ones. my car drove like new after that. i drove so long with it shaking that it even knocked a bolt loose from my rack and pinion. if you just really want to find the source of the problem before balancing your wheels, borrow a friends wheels and see if it shakes with them.
