my car vibrates like crazy at 55- 60 mph. the tires on the front are pretty old and im about to get new ones mounted and balanced but im not sure if that is the problem. i think my motor mounts might be going bad there is some play when i try to move it around with my hands. any suggestions

if ya have stock mounts there will be a slight play if ya put your body into it..look under bright light at your mounts and see if you have broken or crack'd rubber at the mount area..if so that could be your issue...if its not your mounts..it could be your tires or something worse..balljoints/alighnment..and id sugest to get it fix'd as fast as possible..for safty..good luck.

My car doesn't pull to either side and the tires wear pretty evenly. So I don't think it's the alignment. Is there a way I can test my ball joints or do I just look at the bushings? If it was the motor mounts, shouldn't it shake at a certain RPM in every gear? Not just a certain speed?

Tires are out of balance. I had this problem. Your motor mounts will not cause a vibration at only a certain speed.

id say tires. have you checked air pressure. if they are too low it can cause shaking.

mine is doing the same thing. i surely thought it was my tires being out of balance (which they were) but i'm pretty sure it's my rack now.

the shaking is cuz your rims are out of ballance that happend to me too. and stock mounts have a slight play so thats nothing to really worry about

dont worry about your rack and pinion. its your tires, i will bet my life on it. the only time a car vibrates at a specific speed, its the tires and 99% of the time its at 50 to 60 mph. go to a shop and have them check your tires and rims. something is off.

one last thing to look at allso......shocks...if you have a shock that has faild then it will make your tires bounce like a golfball at higher speeds (depending on road condition)....this is a posibility..just another idea of things that go wrong....keep us posted bro.

yeah i thought about that but my skocks are pretty new and feel good the car dosent bounce when i push down on it a couple times. but i did put lowering springs with oem shocks that might have wore them out, all four wheels are out of camber now. im gonna get new tires this weekend and get them balanced and aligned, ill see what that does and keep you guys posted.
