Where does the car shake and where do you feel the shake coming from. From the front of the car, or from the back? From the steering wheel, or in general?
1) WHEN YOU INSTALL NEW BUSHINGS, YES THE CAR HAS TO BE AT RIDE HEIGHT!!!! ON THE GROUND!!! Bolts in, nuts off. If anyone ever says anything else... SMACK THEM... REALLY HARD. I hate when people don't know, and they give wrong advice.. FFS... Bushings, whether OEM, or poly, have PRELOAD. They are supposed to have 0 preload at ground level. If the arms are tightened up while the car is in the air, and then set down.. guess what.. The bushings will experience preload, and your suspension will bind. Newer cars come with marked teeth that match up to teeth at the location where the arms will be mounted, holding the arm in place where they would normally if the car were on the ground. 240s don't have this luxury.
2) New bushings are harder.. therefore transfer more noise. So the car could have been shaking before too.. you just may not have noticed it, because the stock bushings were soft as butter... Not really, but sort of.How much of it is mental too? Perhaps you just weren't paying attention before?
3) Tie rods... When the car is sitting, turn the steering wheel side to side just a couple of centimeters and listen to see if you could hear a knocking. Soooo many 240 owners do not replace their tie rods..
