so i got a new lower coolant pipe, thermostat and permatex rtv gray from COZ..no leaks now THANK GOD...torqued and ready to go! :)
this is exactly what i did after putting the rad and everything back in:
50/50 coolant, only half of the container..
started up the car, and since i have a vacuum leak i gotta give it gas to keep it from shutting off, and i revved it to 1500, and occasionally taking it to 3k..the needle was just below halfway, checked for leaks..none. at this point its been on for about 20 minutes now..took it around the block, and i got excited so i dropped it into third from second..and the needle went up a little above halfway...should i be worried?

Just keep an eye on it, you could have air in the system. This will cause it to rise in temp.

Usually all cars sit a tad above or below center, how much above was it? Like nissanfreak said you could very possibly have some air in the cooling system, it's not uncommon when draining and refilling. Not sure if our engines have a coolant bleeder or not? My 92 maxima had a little 10mm bolt at the top of the engine for bleeding air from the cooling system. If it isn't alot of air, just keep the radiator full and the overflow bottle at the max line and it should get rid of the air over time. If it was a really pronounced overheating I would say you got a bad thermostat, or it was installed backwards.

Best way to bleed is to raise the front of the car up while you fill it up with coolant. Parking on a hill with the front facing up is the easiest.

Where is it leaking from? How is the cap? Is there any crap on the cap or on the rim of the radiator?

When you can post up a video or at least a few pics. How much rtv did you use? And how long did you let it dry/cure before filling with coolant or running the engine?
