Car seems a lose a bit of power once warmed up..

This happen to anyone else? Like the first couple minutes I drive the car, it builds boost super fast and feels great...after that, once the coolant gets hot, etc, it feels like a lot of timing is getting pulled or something and suddenly 8 psi feels like 5. Is it always like this or is something getting too hot or can I change something?

I want my car to always feel like it does when I first take it out!

Thanks,Nick

Check and see if you have constant power to pin 58, your computer might be re learning everything every time you restart it.

When the computer is learning, it advances timing as far as possible then as it starts knocking, the computer remembers and stops advancing so far...

Check pin 58 for constant, then advance your timing a little and see what that does.

It does have constant power, I rewired it last week so it did. I tried to set my timing, but I can't set my idle yet thanks to my Mustang TPS (using mustang tb) only going to .57 volts as a minimum voltage. I think the timing is at 15, it pulls really hard the first 10 minutes of driving, then as everything (oil, coolant, intake, underhood area) gets hot, it seems to be pulling timing a bit. I'm thinking about adding an oil cooler and another fan to keep things cooler or something, the power loss is very very noticeable though.

Does anyone know how to add something like a resistor to the tps output signal to drop it 1 volt from .57 to .47? I think a resistor might do it, but not sure if it would keep the voltage linear as it increased.

Thanks!

Hmm... I honestly dunno what to say about loosing power once warmed up.. I mean I know you should lose some power but it shouldnt be all that noticeable.... We have very similar setups, and are on very close to the same boost level, so I would assume we should be about the same speed. How quick is it once it warms up... like 0-60?

About the TB voltage... First off are you sure you cant adjust the mustang TPS... like just by rotating it or something? If you are positive that you cant adjust it anymore than you have it, then here are my guesses. First off you COULD you use a resistor divider, but that will simply "bleed off" a given voltage PERCENTAGE across the entire voltage range, and I don't think that is what you are looking for.

My only other guess to take off just .1v is to use an op amp as a difference amplifer (with no amplification). If you fed one of the pins .1v and the other your TPS signal then you would end up with TPS - .1v.

I'm gonna have to reread what you read about adjusting that voltage with my buddy who's an EE major..heh.

I found the problem!!! lol...I had a hole in a crappy rubber home depot coupler. As it got hotter it would get worse, then it turned into a big hole.

So, I bought another from Lowe's to temp fix it until I could get a real one, and it popped a hole first time I hit 14 psi...however 20 layers of duct tape fixed that!

Now, in 2nd gear, I can be rolling, boost up to 12 psi and the 275/40's light up with no trouble..hehehehehehehe.

SO much better to drive..omg! Now if I can get that tps right, get it to idle and set timing right, then adjust it a little leaner on spool up it'll be perfect!

I don't wanna think about adding the 550cc's and cranking to 18 psi..lol...no traction!
