I need to find a toddler/booster car seat that will fit into the back of my husband's Nissan. The bucket seats and location of the belt buckle make it nearly impossible to tighten the seat belt enough to be safe.

Has anyone had any experience with this, or know of any resources I could search in? So far I've had no luck with my searches online.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Michele in CA

Honestly I think it's better to find a better suited family car.

I would never put my child in the back of a 240.

I have, that's because me and my wife didn't have another car. Having a Pathfinder makes it much easier to get my son in and out of the truck. Mountainharp..sorry I don't have any experience with toddler seats yet..soon enough.

Sometimes you have to make do with what you have.

Michele, most Graco seats will fit, make sure you attach it facing rearward in the back pass-side seat (even though it's awkward).

I dont know the year of this car. BUT federal standards state all but the drivers seat belt must have a locking system in those belts for car seat security. If you pull the seat belt out beyond 75% of its extension it will go into cinch mode. when in cinch mode it will not let the belt pull out till it has been fully retracted then it will pull back out again. So what you do is buckle the car seat into the seat. If it is a toddler you face it forward if an infannt then face back as Greg said. Once the seat is buckled grab the strap coiming out from the top of the seat[shoulder belt] and pull it out till it stops reeling out. When you release it check to be sure it is in cinch mode by letting it reel back in to about half and then pull it slowly and it should lock not allowing you to pull it out again. If its working let it reel all the way till it is against the seat. Now with the toddler set up pull on the belt feeding as much of the shoulder strap as you can back into the reel while making sure the lap belt is tightening up as well. pull it as tight as you can and check the security of the seat.

well, w/ a rear-facing seat on the pass rear seat location, i'd secure the belt w/ the driver side rear buckle (& vice-versa if u got 2 child seats). then I'd slide the front passenger seatback to lock against the child seat.

for the forward-facing one, i have the top tether strap wrapped around the rear strut tower bar and back to the toddler seat as well as using the locking lap belt.
