its 90 sohc 240sx hatchback

Ok, just yesterday i drove my car for about 30 mins, then parked it in the shade in a parking garage for about 3-4 hours. I came back to it, and took off. The brake light wouldnt go off, even when i lifted the e brake back up and set it down multiple times, and the battery light was faintly on. I took off, and the car felt like it had no power, it felt like a bike could pass me. Then after about 45 seconds, it was starting to shake and stutter each time i shifted, and would radomly jump and shake while driving. It takes forever to gain any speed. If i give it just barely any gas it seems to go ok iuntil i shift, then it shakes and stutters again. I have no idea what it could be, anyone have ideas as to what to check, or could it be any one of a million things?

also forgot, once i take off, the brake light goes off, but the battery lights stays faintly on, and they sometimes go on and off just randomly.

first of all, check all your battery wires and terminals and make sure they arent corroded or anything. next, check your engine grounds and all that stuff, next, check your fuel filter because it sounds like something might be clogging it up. if this doesnt work, check your oil to make sure you didnt blow a head gasket or something.

check the engine ground! also check the part that connects to the batter on the positive side that lil connector acutally broke on mine and it ran crapy until it finnaly separated and then the car just died ! sounds like its in the grounding system and or the charging system

it turned out to be the alternator, was only putting out like 11 volts or amps (whichever it is) instead of 80? that its supposed to.

One: my emergency brake light was going on and it was the brake fluid ( even though it wasn't empty).

Two: no power: I don't know much about cars, but my '89 240's original alternator went four months ago. It felt like that- losing power. Maybe check that (but you'll know in a few days when the car won't start or slowly comes to a stop). I got mine rebuilt for about $100.
