Car runs like poop!!

ok, tomorrow(sat. may 15th) i should be picking up my 89 240sx. now i went and looked at it a while ago. but the thing is it idles like crap and i was told it doesnt go over 45 w/o dieing

now the guy had a auto in there and something happend with the motor so he put a new motor with a manual in there. but used the same ECU.

ok so i get there and look at the motor, hmmmm 2 cyls are switched on teh Distributer (cant remember which 2 though) so we mess with it and switch them back and it wont start. swap them again and it starts and idles like crap!

thats all the info i have for now, so i am gunna pull teh distributor, bump the cyl 1 over to TDC and check engine timeing and redo the ignition timeing.

if that doesnt work im gunna try resetting the ECU.

any other ideas of what might be wrong???

timing chain jumped/was installed wrong? maybe

ok cool so then in otherwords i got the right idea lol

i am gunna have to drive it for about 20 miles though, u think it will be ok or not??

hard to say not knowing for sure what it is. if the timing chain has jumped you could do worse damage to the engine if it slips more or breaks altogether.
