This concerns 2 things.
First, a few days ago i got into my car to go to work, and i tried to start the car. All i got was a little click. Tried again and it worked. This has happened a handful of times since then, but it always works on the second try. ????????????
Now the other day i was putting air in my tire, and all of a sudden my rpms went down pretty low and I noticed some black smoke coming out of the muffler. Not a lot of smoke, but i could notice it. Drove home and thought nothing of it. The next day when i went out, when i was going through the neighborhood at say, 10 mphs, just coastin along, i went to accelerate a little and it bogged completely. Didnt stall, but sputtered really bad. It does this on occasion, but if i give it a bit more gas it usually picks up and goes. Sometimes when i'm drivin at higher speeds, it will pop/backfire a little bit, not sure if its exactly backfiring cuz its nothing loud at all, but it seems as if the urge to go faster completely ceases. Any suggestions as to what might be causing it? Where to start.....?

the first issue has to do with a open circuit in your starting system, either a clutch switch or internal starter circuitry. the problem is likely going to become more pronounced [ more then just once] for you to pinpoint the failure.
Your second issue sounds like your car is loading up on fuel. Check your coolant temp connection, also check your airflows signal voltage at idle if its to high you either have a bad MAF or ground to it. Do a search I have posted how to test a maf several times before.

hi, my car have all the problems in the world... i have a similar problem to when i went to accelerate a little and it bogged. i had to accelerate to full. i fix the problem with a new o2 sensor and my car goes fine for 1 month. now, my car is bad . it drink to much gas!! but my car dont bogg more!!!i drive a 240sx 1990 with 169k miles!!!
