heres the deal guys, I cleaned my iacv valve today. I mean my dad and I took it off and pretty much cleaned it inside, out. Anyway, my car tends to put out a raw fuel smell, and the idle still fluctuates, but it is strange, because it will go up and down 4-5 times and even out. 15 seconds later same thing. It is like it does it at consistent intervals. I don't know what to look at right now or what to do. Please, I need some ideas. Thanks.

has the outcome changed from when you cleaned to compared to before you cleaned it?

not really, or actually NO. It has got to be something else. Hopefully it is a sensor of some kind, but I am almost tired of taking it to the shop for diagnostics. I have put so much money into that from the past, and I do not get straight answers. Doesn't that suck. That's what I get for buying a nissan. Just kidding.

i know how it feels, i was wondering why my car had a rough/low idle and had little to no power...

then i took to to a buddy to take a look at and it turned out that i was a victum of the KA24E's timming chain guide problem.. A new top-end, cleaning and rebuilding later.. she is running fine :S

also, i would point towards something involving fuel management.. that is VERY Vague.. But that would cause the irratic idle, and raw smell.

Yes, it idles rough and also bogs out. Did you have a engine knock at idle and then it goes away when reved up. My engine is making a knocking sound at idle or actually it has been doing this for the last couple of years. Are you implying that my timing chain and/or guides are my whole problem. Strange but everytime I am sure that I fixed an engine problem, a short time later it gives me crap again. I have experienced this torture ever since I have had the car. Why I am still trying to work on it. I must love cars too much. You think?

no actually, i dident get a knowck.. the engine was VERY violent to say the least, it was moving 1-2 inches per side when it was idling and it was smoothe when it was reved..

also, im not saying that the guide issue is yours, i was just agreeing with you and stating what happened to me.

But if it was a timing problem, wouldn't the problem stay there consistently. In other words, I shouldn't experience all of those temporary solutions from the past an then it f**k up on me again. Right?

As far as fuel management goes, sorry but that seemed a little broad. What should I check as far as fuel. My fuel pressure is fine. Maybe I could do one more pressure drop test on the injector to check for leaks unless you'll have a better idea for this. I think I will do almost whatever it takes right now. The car is awesome when it runs to its potential, FUN CAR. It just sucks really bad when it gives me trouble. Ya know whatimsayin?

no i know what you are saing.. And i said that it was very Vague when i stated that..

but i would try to see if you can find out kinda mixture you are running.. usually when it really smells raw you are burning rich, and if that is the case then you need to start looking back..

again, im not 100% sure what your problem is, im only tossing ideas in the soup.

where should I start. New coolant sensor, service the injector seals or injectors? Like you said, it could be anywhere, thats for sure. I feel some dumb when it comes to troubleshooting engine performance. Its a mother f****** b****. Maybe I should have it analyzed by a shop again and hear what they have to say. No one where I live knows much about nissans except for me, sort of, and the dealership.

Oh yea, did I mention. The idle problem is intermittent. Isn't that great! Fluctuates in the same patterns, but intermittent when it occurs.

The up and down sensation when idling.....sounds not like the fuel system itself, but of the fuel management. I'd try checking and cleaning your MAF connections. If that doesn't help, try cleaning your O2 sensors. these have been associated with idling problems alot in my past...so these are what I check for when i have a problem. but maybe you've done these things already.......either way good luck
