Wow! That sounds crazy! I supose maybe a combo between bad battery and a bad alternator, and when you connect the battery while the vehicle is running it forces the alternator to work which make more internal load on the alternator which in turn causes the drive belt to squeal. Alot of times when a battery goes bad you wont know it. The batt. will have enough juice to start the car but then it wont take a charge which causes the alt. to overwork itself into failure....Goodluck with that...514

One thing, running a car without a battery can be very hazardous. If you disconnect the battery the alternator will see zero volts on the battery and pump out as much as it. So that kinda knocks out the idea that the car is runny like sh*t because of a bad battery. Battery still could be bad but regardless the alternator is going to be trying as hard as it can. When electricity is produced its going to go somewhere. Without a battery to take the charge you can overwhelm your electrical system and potential burn everything out. My 2 cents.

just bring your vehicle to an autozone/ advance auto parts parking lot for a FREE on-vehicle testing of your charging system & battery
