Car running too rich at startup

2002 Q45, 90k miles.

I've notice at startup there is a strong gas smell coming from the car. Is that normal? Any ideas?

Not sure if the '02 uses the same enrichment cycle as the G50 series - so I'm not sure. The G50 fires all injectors in batch mode (simultaneously) at cold start-up to act as sort of a reverse-choke. Instead of limiting air to the mixture, it increases fuel.

Is your fuel smell from the tail pipe or under the hood? If it's under the hood it may be a fuel line or hose clamp... again not sure of how the '02 is set up but going from 90-96 experience.

I think that its probably normal... Whenever I pull my Q into the garage, or even start it in the garage, it always stinks up everything, but I have no cats...
