Whats up guys.

So i was on the way home from greensboro yesterday afternoon and noticed my thermostat wasn't moving much. under 1/4th of the way up (after about an hour of driving). It was in the high 70s as well as this morning so anyways i got up this morning and heading to work it seemed to be sitting in the middle after the 30 minute drive.

Could it be a thermostat problem or just a weird one time problem?

Check your coolant level. If it just happened this one time, I wouldn't worry about it too much until it happens again.

My car used to do this (96' 240). I drained all the coolant, and refilled it with 50% distilled water and 50%antifreeze.

Never happened again.

I would do the opposite. Check coolant level and overflow, but chances are it's just a temp sensor for the gauge. However if you replace it, you now need to bleed the system. And if you gotta do all that might as well replace the tstat too.

Now are you sure it's cool. let it warm up and grab all of the hoses one by one (rad and heater core) see if any are cool.

Nope like i said only going by the gauge....The new motor will be going in soon so im not to worried about it ( replacing everything before the new one goes in anyway.. Just trying to get it through the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks for all the input ill check it out tomorrow.

I think either temp gauge sensor is bad or thermo is stuck open. See if you get good heat. If you dont or only warm.. new thermostat for you. If you get hot heat, I would get a new temp sensor.

I dont think you really have to bleed it. Its a small sensor in the engine. Mine went bad and I just replaced it quick with just a little coolant running out and didnt worry about bleeding. No problems quick and simple
