Hey everyone,

98 Pathfinder here.

So my bad, but I guess my gas gauge is broken, and I accidently drove my car out of gas tonight on the freeway. It lost speed and sputtered to a stop.

Got a can, and put in some gas, and got'er to a gas station, filled it up.

Now the engine light is on every since.

Light has never been on, and the oil is good to go. After I filled it out, took it for a couple sprints, and felt perfectly fine.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Been there, done that. Anyway. Have you tried to reset the check engine light?

Try that first. If it comes back, then get back to the forum and someone will point you in the right direction.

I read that the light never came on and now it is always on. The mechanism that triggers the low volume of gas is stuck and /or corroded. I t works by the fuel level. Keep a spare tank with gas in it and try running the level to about 3-5 gallons remaining then try sloshing that remains with a bit of Seafoam in the tank.

If you can clean it without taking anything apart you will be ahead of the game

Or try resetting the fuel arm, by taking the gas tank apart, gaskets, fuel amount and some work to do but try the lazy man's way first...it might work.

Hey thanks for the replies guys,

Actually I didn't notice the gas light come on at all, could be a problem there, but i'll just remember to not run it so low.

I've done the reset on the battery, and so far the light has gone off, going to see if it comes back in a couple days!

Thanks again.
