Im having trouble with my car. I thought the battery died but i jumped start the car and it started but it only starts if my foot pumps and stay on the gas pedal, if i remove my foot of the pedal it automatically turns off but the lights and everything keep running. Any ideas of what might be wrong?

Well first of all, we need to know what kind of car you have. Has it shut down before or have you had to jump it off regularly? It could be an alternator problem in that case. If not its possibly a fuel problem, but we can't really help without some more information.

My friend has a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited which had a very similar issue. It was very slow to crank and required him to give it gas during cranking, and then stay on the gas or it'd die. It turned out to be a failing battery. Get your battery tested, most parts stores do it for free.

Ditto on the battery check. Most of them check the battery and alternator both, which I'm willing to bet one of them are your culprit.

Sure, It's a Jeep.... ;) Nah, just kidding. I agree it sounds like the battery, but you also might want to check the fuel filter too, which is inexpensive.

Good luck
