Possibly the starter.I would try giving it a whack or three, but that's just me.

edit - Read too fast, didn't see that it died after starting....

Could be so many things..

A vacuum leak, a stuck open egr, misadjusted throttle plate, faulty idle solenoid, faulty throttle position sensor, faulty manifold air pressure sensor, faulty mass air flow sensor, among many others. It could also be an engine mechanical condition issue It's really hard to give a specific answer with such a broad question. Also check your air filter..

Do you get any error codes?

Do not disconnect the battery while the car is running. The battery is regulating the alternator's voltage, without it the alternator will shootthe voltage way up and may damage your computer. I will put a voltmeter and measure your battery voltage when the car is on,it should read around 14+ volts. That is the correct way of checking the alternator but maybe that is not your problem.

Do you have an advance auto/autozone in your town? If so, drive the car up there and have them test your alternator and both of your batteries (assuming you still have the old one). If its not them, then look beyond that. Also, could check spark(?)....

I would reset the ECU and the throttle.

Those are the easiest and cheapest to start with.

If the car is still under warranty, I'd just take it in and let them deal with it.

so the problen my car was having kind of went away it was staying on and was running fine until yesterday afternoon my wife got home from work i was gonna go pump some gas and the car wouldnt stay on, a few hours later tried it again stayed on just fine, drove about a mile and i died at the stop light, the thing would not stay on. It sucks to cause its an automatic so i would have to rev than put it in drive that sucked! Anyways got to the gas station pumped some 91 premium, ive been pumping 89 lately the could be part of the promblem i think and here where i live we have been getting really bad gas, i think they put water or something in the gas and cars have been dieing left and right. Drove the car a few miles the premium seemed to help it wouldnt die at stops no more until i got to one light it started to shake died turned it back on drove then gave me a cel finaly drove home and just parked it, any idea what the hell is going on?

Go to an Advance Auto or Autozone and get them to check the CEL code.

i went to auto zone and rented the obdII scanner and it gave me 4 codes for cam positioning actuators and 1 for multiple misfore. There was a recall in 2003 about thes errors i wonder if my car has been serviced for that im going to call infiniti today.

I kind of figured it was more than the typical intake/plugs issues, but I couldn't pinpoint what.

Good to see the car is "speaking" to you.

Keep us posted on how things turn out.

ok i called infiniti and they told me that my vin# does NOT fall into the number of vehicles that had this problem, but he said it could be so bring it in, i told him that the car shuts off during operation, i meen if the dealer was a few miles away it would be cool but its an hour drive. I have a nissan dealer like a mile away from my house but they told me it has to be an infiniti dealer that has to look at it, so he tells me that im going to have to tow it in that freakin sucks. Theres a place here where i live called independent nissan and infinti ill have them look at it i guess.

this is where i read about the recall-

Sign up for AAA premium. Wait the 3 or 4 day period, then have the car towed. It's cheaper than paying for the tow by itself.
