I've been checking out my options for replacing my broken headlight assemblies lately and was astounded by some of the pricing. Suprisingly, no yard seems to have a Zenki in Lansing, MI. Tried to have my local junkyard source some, but never got a call back on it. So I checked car-part.com. Their prices vary, but are pretty high. Heres one example for a right side headlamp assembly described as such: 'BROKEN BRACKET IN 3 SPOTS' and is listed at $150. They can't be serious. Selling broken parts for near new pricing? Lens and housing from Pinnacle is 140 new and the whole setup including lights is only $178. They did have one listed at 160 in 'USED, GOOD CONDITION'. Why would anyone pay that? I'm curious if this typifies salvage pricing or if the car-part vendors are particularly pricey?
I know some sites have recommended car-part for transmission swap parts and whatnot, but I certainly hope these parts come with a complimentary jar of Vaseline. Looks like I'll be going NEW!
