I have no clue what is wrong with my car :( its an s13 red top with all the cooling mods (Koyo Radiator, electric fan, huge I/C) and my car still overheats. I dont have any coolant leakage or smoke. Do any of you share similar problems? I did a leak down test and nothing leaked so i dont suspect a blown headgasket. Any ideas :thinker ?

uuhh I have a Stock SR radiator FMIC and Mechanical fan and I run into no such problem in florida heat, I sugest you check your thermistate if its stuck closed, or maybe a clog in your coolant system.

Yeah, I have JDM radiator, FMIC, crap electric fan, no fan shroud, mechanical fan and I don't overheat. It runs a little hotter than I would like, but not overheat.

Did you burp the system?Did you replace the thermostat?

Check your thermostat, water pump and belts. Check to see if your fans are working.

Sounds like you have air in your coolant. There is a burp valve on the hot side on the elbow.

1. Turn on the car and let it get warm (i.e. get the thermostat ot open)2. Open the bleeder screw (don't take it all the way out)3. Let the coolant gurgle out (you will see bubbles coming out)4. It will take a while so just let it do it's thing.5. Continue untill no more bubbles come outFYI the longer you do it the more air you will get out of your system.

Edit- There is another bleed valve on the side of the block if you still can't get all the air out using just the top bleeder. But it is a PITA to get to so just take you time with the top bleeder

My 240 with an s13 redtop did the same thing. We are pretty sure we narrowed it down to the water pump. It was going to be warrantied out, but my trans broke a couple gears and we cant do any testing or trouble shooting till we get the trans issue worked out. Ill let you know, but for the mean time, just pull the thermostat, and see if that helps. It is on the lower radiator hose going into the motor fyi... Good luck, Chris

okay get this, I have an S14 with an S13 Redtop and my speedo tach or fuel gauge work correctly, and my temp gauge seems to be the only one that functions but its so weird cuz right when im under boost it jumps WAY up to H and i mean the radiator gets hot but theres no bubbles in the overflow tank or white smoke.

MAybe your temp gauge is really a boost gauge:D . But on the serious side i have no idea what could be wrong, if you checked all these things. But check your thermastat and check to make sure that radiator isnt trash.

Sounds like maybe you have the SR temperature sender still installed....it'll make the stock gauge read H all the damn time. Switch it out for the KA sending unit, and all will be well :)

That is almost exactly what my car does.. It gets hot, but not boiling over hot, or leaking any where. And it only gets super hot when i am under boost. All of my gauges work correctly though. Fuel, speedo, tach..And i got my motor from a local shop called garage kwai. He gets his motor from some distributer in Cali. He is pretty close with the guy and gets all his motors there, but i dont know the company, i just know the middle man.
