Hi all wondering if anyone can help me out here

just this week, my car has been taking longer than usual to warm upand when its starts warming up the temp gauge shoots to almost high and Ihear like a "whistling" sound while the temp gauge starts to get to H..then slowly the temp gauge becomes normal but rises up and down, making the same sound.

it does this for about 20 min of driving and it dissapears after that

the car is a 95 auto, 240s LE all stock,i recently topped off all fluids, and did an oil change at a local shop

did you bleed your coolant system? there may be air bubbles stuck in the stream. topping off isn't good enough.

Can you let your engine idle, pop the hood, and try to find out where this sound is coming from?

longer than usualy to warm up sounds like a thermostat. it could be stuck causing the coolant to freely move around (thus not letting your engine warm up sooner)

whistling soudns arent good. possible crack somewhere? chk your radiator for coolant residue

The whistling sound could also be the sound of air passing through the wiggle thing on the thermo. I'd pull the thermo to see if it's 1. oriented the right way (wiggle pointing up) and 2. don't use too much rtv when sealing up the thermo housing. I've dealt with too much rtv on 3 seperate occasions.
