I can't figure why 93 240sx over heats? I had a new head gasket replaced (yes i had resurfaced and its completely flat(by 0.012) wapred in the middle.... i blew the head gasket on the water jacket new piston 3....anyway's i put in a new one and a thermostat with a new water pump i had it before the but only had like 50 miles same with thermostat. I acutaly got 2 thermostats and they are nissan oem. I bled the system and came to figure out my radiator was clogged so i had it torn apart and rodded and cleaned out. Bled again and the car was good at idle and good on free way and low 2000 to 1800 rpms but when i run slow like 1,200 then go to 3,000 then back down or stand still for awhile it starts to over heat. ICan't figure out why it overheats still i burped it like crazy and even jacked up. I just bought a new radiator cap cuz my old one worn so i figured thats the only thing left i can replace.... its a 13lb one. You guys think my radiator is still scrwed up? what about the coolant tempature sensor could that be an issue if so then i will replace it. Whats the voltage on it sapposed to be?? i need help i've tried everything! Ithink i might just sell the car, but i love this car,

incorrect ignition or valve timing can cause overheating. adjust it.

check on the condition of the belt that drives the water pump. if its cracked in many places or looks glazed then u should replace it. if the belt were bad it would slip on the pulley of the water pump and that would cause poor circulation.

you may have air pockets in the system. when filling it back up with coolant, do it slowly so u give any air in the system time to get out.

if all else fails take it to a mechanic. he'll be able to pinpoint it and fix the problem.

i did take it to my mechanic, he set my timing and cams and all. HE was confused, he said he bled it like crazy. I asked if it could be the cap and said it could darn be. Something so small could be it. I changed it today so far no over heating. I test it awhile if not then the belts next or i'll just remove the thermostat for the summer. I never the a/c in the summer or heater in the winter.

something as simple as a radiator cap can easily cause a car to overheat. best thing to do when replacing it is upgrading to a higher psi rating to further retard the boiling point of the coolant.
