alright here's my problem, my car will not start at all. I have had some trouble the past few weeks with it starting, it would take a couple times cranking over and it would finally start at a very low idle but then quickly idle up and be fine. I had a ebay fuel pump and so I thought it was just crappy so i got an actual walbro hoping it was it but its not. after installing it, it cranked over and ran perfect but now i cant get it to start again. when I stopped it I was at mcdonalds and me and my buddy push started it and it ran, so I have no Idea what it could be. My battery is charged, my starter is good and engaging fine, and I am getting fuel.
If anybody has any ideas please chip in.

Your post is a little confusing. Are you saying you can bump start it, but it won't crank start?

Yah, sorry. It will bump start/push start but not crank start. The battery is good, the starter is good, the motor turns over and the fuel pump is priming. it doesn't make much sense to me. I'm thinking it's got to be electical, some kind of sensor, or my ecu, or maybe even a bad ground. One thing to note though is that it was slowly getting harder and harder to start and now just decided to quit all together. I'm stumped, so anything will help.

Doesn't say anything about checking the fuel pump controller.. They can cause exactly what you describe.. but you should inspect yours ..

idk may fuel pump is holding plenty of pressure. but I may look into that.

I just checked my ecu codes and it threw a 13 (coolant temp sensor) could this be it? maybe it thinks my engine is too hot and is preventing it from starting??? i think i came across something like this when i was searching earlier.

i guess i will try replacing that

ok that didnt do it. so I tested my spark plugs and they are not sparking at all. I checked the volttage across the connector and there is very low if any voltage across it. so heres what Im thinking it might be, either my ptu is bad, my ecu is bad, or my ignition switch is somehow screwed up to where everything else will work except for ignition (probably not but just an idea.) I might just resort to the old dynomite in the engine trick...... :bang

anyways I tested my crank angle sensor today, and it was good, so im thinking maybe the ptu I swapped was bad too (it has been sitting around for God knows how long)
ill actually use the multimeter to test it the way they say to in the fsm. hopefully this is it, if not im thinking its the ecu....

Hey I'm having the same problems as you were. Did you ever find out the problem? I am at the stage where it threw the 13 code and i have not replaced anything yet.

Replace the Coolant Temp Sensor. The ECU is telling you what's wrong. Are you also able to push start it?

Ya i am replacing the temp sensor today. I can start out with the key only when the car is cold. When it warms up, it won't start with the key but i can Bump start it.

Then it's the temp sensor placing the engine into protect mode most likely. If it fixes it, be sure to let us know.

Replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor and it has started up every time! Seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks Ace2cool for the quick responses.
