i have a 91 240sx stock ka24de, i open the hood because i notice when the car heats up the temp only stay at 3 notches instead of the needle being half way. i notice this box that was wired up to the maf, and i was thinking "this shouldn't be here. i pull the little box out and rewire the maf to the way it was, i started the car it idled really ruff if, i hit the gas and let off it will die.

its really rich also i have to stay on the gas in order for the car to stay on it jerks too. what is this little box for, ive had 240's b4 and ive nvr seen this before. i know it was working before though, but i checked with a mechanic to see what it was. he said it was probably a bypassor or somthing like that cuz the maf or the ecu probably didnt work. i also kinda messed up the wiring while taking the box out.

my question is, do you this i need a new maf and its wiring harness or is it something else heres some pics.

looks like the guy who had the car before you f***ered up your MAF plug.

cant tell ya what the little box it. looks like it was rigged on there .

If you fix the plug wires properly that will most likely fix your problem from what you have described.

Best bet would be to go to a junk yard and hack off it off a junk car. Get as much wire as possible with it.

Don't order anything until you are sure it's broken. A junkyard will be much cheaper than most prices you'l find online.

chris has great advice....but let me add to it...

pull an intire harness from the junk yard and grab the ecu wile your there..ecu will run ya 30 from a yard..and harness around 40ish....with the hack job on your current harness..it might be benificial to just replace all the hacked up connections your not see'ing...better to have a fresh start..allso..grabing the ecu with that harness will inshure that the ecu is compatable forshure..insted of the ebay risk of not knowing exactly..good luck man..hope this helps.

jim wolf has a ecu list that we ka guys can cross refrence...i believe its stickied somewhere on the forums....i know from experience..if your running an 5speed..you can use both auto and manual ecu's..in reallity..an auto ecu is preferd..as it does not have a 4th and 5th gear limiter on it..unlocking the cars potential..but cat what ya can find for now..and reasrch a little more..good luck

Try changing your plugs. They might be fouled after running rich.
