So i'm not going to pretend to be an expert on cars or mechanic or anything of the sort, but I've got an issue that I'd really like to fix so I can try to sell this car (in need of money). I haven't driven my 2002 2.5 altima regularly in the last couple of years, but it would normally work fine whenever I needed to drive it. However, a couple of weeks ago, I tried to start it and it idles really roughly and then shuts off. If i restart it several times, then it'll idle, but not rev properly and won't go above about 2500rpm. Then, if i put it in drive, it'll almost always just die off. I've read as much as I can and can't really find a definitive answer. yesterday, i unplugged the MAF sensor and it seems to idle a ton better, but still will not rev properly. I've recently changed the fuel pump, spark plugs, cleaned the MAF (last week), cleaned the throttle body, and changed the pcv valve...can somebody give me some guidance on what I should try next. I was confident it was the MAF when I unplugged it and it worked better, but since it still won't rev right, I'm not too sure. I have an obd2 and got these codes yesterday: p1147, p0507, p0101, p0103, p1612 ( a couple of which aren't important). I erased these codes and re-ran it later and got the 0101 and 0103 codes again (mass or volume air flow circuit high input - and - mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance). again, i don't know a ton, but can do just about anything with a little bit of guidance. it seems like it can be a ton of stuff, i just don't know what to try next and i dont want to just blindly buy parts and replace them. what about the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors? that's something that has come up when i'm reading stuff online.

thanks for any help anybody can give me.

Might be a faulty mass air flow sensor. Know anybody with the same car that's willing to mess around?

no, i don't know anybody with a similar car......but i really want to know if it's the maf sensor if it still wont accell./rev correctly with the maf unplugged? everything i read online says that when they're maf is bad, you can tell its bad if it runs fine with the maf unplugged

Catalytic converter? Just chucking stuff over the wall, but I think I remember someone saying something similar with a different make/model. May be worth checking out.

this might help: http://engine-codes.com/make/nissan/1

My feeling is it's probably the MAF. Had something similar with a previous car of mine (got it wet washing the engine bay). Symptoms are similar to yours, and after looking up the codes most are affected by a MAF problem. Check the power and grounds to the MAF to see if they might be bad, if they are good maybe think of replacing it, look at the DTC's and their info as well to troubleshoot it.
