I know there aren't many Versas in my area but one of my friends is willing to go to a meet with me. He drives a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse. One of my other friends drives a 350z and another drives a '03 Lancer. I'm trying to get them to come, and their friends. There aren't a lot of import enthusiast activity in Colorado, BTW.

It will be my first actual attempt at a meet. They're building a new Jack in the Box close to me and wanted to start a meet there. What do you guys recommend to do and how do you round up a lot of people, at least ten or so? Have any of you had success with it?

Get out the word a good week or 2 in advance. Also don't try to limit what cars can and can't come. Does it really matter if it's import only? In PA we have a weekly Thursday meet at Sonic. The reason it keeps working and pulls in 15-20 cars every time?

1. Get the word out. Make flyers, post on forums, do whatever it takes if you want a successful meet. Keep it legal as far as advertising and the like though.

2. Pick a good location. A food establishment doesn't hurt. You want either near a city or in between 2 cities. The aformentioned Sonic meet is close to Lancaster City, but not extremely far from Harrisburg.

3. Participants. If you have enough to have "import only" meets then go ahead. The thing is you can't really prevent people from coming. That being said, open it up to anyone. Have the ricetastic and performance based modders. If they don't get along, try to keep them in their own camps.

4. Time and Date. You're not going to get anyone to come to a meet on a Monday at 9 p.m. Also don't stay until like.....12 a.m.

5. Clear it with the establishment. The quickest way to get denied to a place is to show up, unnanounced and make a ton of noise(more on that later). Explain what's going to happen, how many people you think will show and what time you plan on arriving and leaving.

6. Be respectful. Don't come rolling in, stereos blaring while doing smokey burnouts. NO ONE will appreciate that. You have to keep in mind this place is public and needs buisness everyday. Rude kids doing burnouts will shy away customers and force the establishment to get rid of you. That usually means cops.

If you try and follow the above, you'll have a reasonably successful meet. As long as you be respectful and get the ok from the establishment, you shouldn't have any cop issues. Just remember, it's not just about the car meet, other people need to go about their business there as well.
