car make loud backfire noise then shuts off

sup guys today i was crusing and i decided to punch it . i then heard a loud backfire noise that sounded like a gun shot then my car turned off .does anyone know what the problem may be any info is apprshated thanks jon

your timing could be off or your O2 sensor is bad or any other fuel related sensors. things to have checked O2 sensormass air flow sensor throttle positioning sensorcoolant temp sensor coil packs if equipeddistributor if equipedspark plug conditionfuel lines and hosesfuel filterwas there black or blue smoke and what kind of car and motor is itSR20's have an issue with backfiring but they don't usually turn off.

intercooler piping? doesnt sound exactly right but seems possible. my old RB used to pop off all the time, i usually put it back on and RTV the hell out of it.

it happened again , the only thing i can think off is that i have my fuel pump hardwired to a relay and the relay was hot so i switched that out well see if that works if not its going to be a trial and error thing any info is apprshated thanks jon

also i dont have a maf sensor , i have a aem map sensor with iat sensor .

I had a simlar issue with my evo first get a presure check done on you injectors ine of the injectors may not be closing all the way and you could be hydrolocking the motor (on mine I ended up crack a piston) or it could be your tune

you running lean on decell if its backfiring. Is it during deceel of only when you punch it?

it happened once when i punched it ,then it happened again when i came off an exit and started to drive again. its weird ??
