Hello Everyone,Here are my little thoughts for today. Why does the car mags always try to compare the G-35 with the BMW 330i? A fully loaded G-35 is $5k or more less in price than a loaded bimmer. Shouldn't they compare it with the BMW 325i? Also, is there a mag out there that compares the I-35 against the Acura-TL type S? Only road & track had enough guts to knock BMW fat butt of the first place seat for a mid size entry lux car. :pface What do you all think?Kev

My favorite is when Car and Driver put the G Coupe against the RX8 and the.... MUSTANG SVT. Are people really cross-shopping the G coupe with a Mustang??? American car magazines make for good laughs and bad toilet paper.

Don't even get me started on these comparison test's. I can't tell you how many times a car has clearly beaten another one in every measurable test and they give the nod to the lesser vehicle because of "intangibles or personal observations". BMW has won more test's this way than any other car brand. The magazines also have a tendency of comparing a manual transmission BMW with auto trannny versions of other cars. Well guess who wins?

j30t, I think your on the wrong site. Shouldn't you be at the future used bmw owners club.com site? However, I would love to have the new bmw 5 series with 500hp+ v-10 engine. I saw it in another mag last week. Just looking for an extra $90,000. (nope not enough in the wallet, bank, or retirement account) oh well, I'm stuck with the G-35 AND STILL GRINNING EAR TO EAR.Kev...

Not being totally sarcastic. But to me i like the styling and performance of the bmws. But they arent better in that they are way more expensive to take care of and they have a lot more problems than the Infiniti lineup.

I still wouldnt mine a nice M3 or M5.

I'd love to. My writing is about all I have to offer (it puts food on the table and gets me a little noteriety here and there).

I wrote a review of the G35 sedan for NICO almost 2 years ago when it FIRST became available. Drove one of the first ones in Phoenix, and I think my initial impressions remain, even after driving one several times since then (for a week at a time).

Now I just need someone to hook me up with a new 325i for a week or two....

AZ,What I was thinking was more of a funny type comparo. You know a jar of gray poupon in the glove compartment, 0 to 60 in ...Margaret get out and push... 8.9 sec. and so on.Kev

Even worse was that in the Autoweek "America's Best" poll the G35c was up against the M3 in the best sport coupe category. Guess which car won. The G35 came in second and the 350Z was third. Their votes combined wouldn't have beat the M3.

Here we go again, apples and oranges. MSRP unloaded red m3 $48,295 vrs $32,745 red G-35c 6mt leather. Loaded m3 $53,295 vrs $37,545 G-35c 6mt leather. You think if infiniti put $15,750 worth of extras for engine, breaks, and suspension the only thing bmw driver would see is the tail lights of the G-35? (Prices based on the bmwusa and infiniti web sites-Prices may very-or may be higher in Hawaii) :0)

VERY true.

Let's see, the supercharger should be around $6K, then what would we spend the rest of the $15K on? I don't see what can be improved!

Price is not the primary factor in deciding on what car to buy.

Someone willing to spend $60K on an BMW M3 may opt to spend $35K on a loaded G35 coupe because they like it better!

You could get a Q45 badge for the G35 and it would be a perfect machine :P

If you put a super charger or turbo in the G-35 would the car mags compare it with a Porsche 911 turbo or a Ferrari 360 or 456gt? You know it.Kev

Have you ever noticed that in the major car magazines the writers have a preference for Euro cars, such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes and VW ?

Is it because the Euro cars are so wonderful. Maybe. Maybe not.

Does the fact that ROAD & TRACK and CAR & DRIVER are both owned by a French company have any influence on which car wins a comparo? Maybe.

One thing that bugs me is that the articles seem to be written by advertising writers. Kind of like the articles in the Sunday automotive section of the classifieds.

I just want them to list the facts of a car. Acceleration, braking, gear ratios, wheelbase, curb weight and so on.

Most comparisons are heavily loaded with subjective factors. Fun factor, aesthetics, design and other things that vary between individuals.

Ultimately, the major mags treat their readers as sheep. And in this country, the herd mentality helps sell cars and trucks.
