I know this is not a new thing, but I just came across it and I thought I would share. It's a car lift that is completely portable, runs on 110 or 220 volts, comes with it's own compressor, and seems ideal for DIY oil changes and other work that you might have to use jack stands for. I checked the website and for a system that holds 5,000 pounds, the cost is $1300 and it ships free.

That is pretty cool Larz - I have a garage with a 14 foot ceiling and other than a garage door opener that may be in the way, it would work at my home. Are you doing to do it? I have 4 jack stands and a Costco floor jack. The lift would make it so much easier.

Larz,
I really like the idea. In the past month there have been a few things for which I could've really used a lift. I would also love to have the lift for oil changes, since I do them on my other cars but the M isn't very accessible underneath. I really like this solution that you have found. There is more than adequate room underneath the lifted car to work, and unlike some other lifts, there are no crossing bars under so you can actually move down there! This seems safer to me than jack stands too. Let me know what you decide on it!

This is definitely neat.

One of the reasons why I haven't moved south is because my dad has a full lift (similar to the one shown in the video without the top brace but Bend Pak as well) that I use (as you can see in my HowTo's). The only thing I don't like about this one is that obviously you can't stand under it. Some things are tough to do laying down.

I agree Ilya. That's the only downside. I would've liked to see a higher lift, but it's like a trade off I think with it being portable.

That's a pretty cool portable lift.

I picked up a KwikLift used from Craigslist for $700. It came with 1 centerbridge, 2 drive-up mini ramps, and 4 dolleys so vehicle can be moved around while lifted. If I need to work with the wheels off, I have a bottle jack or scissor jack and either lift from the ramp or centerbridge and secure with jackstands.

That's a nice set-up and a great price! I don't think I would ever use the lift for my M since the DIY things I do don't require a lift. I want a lift for my 68 fleetwood and the ramp system isn't long enough. The Fleetwood is 19 feet long ... and 11 feet of that is just the wheelbase ! Looks like the rear wheels would still be at the base of the ramps when the front wheels are about to roll off the front edge. I'm debating on the $1300 lift since it gives me access to the underside without having to trust jack stands to keep that road barge suspended over me.

Yeah, I do most of my own work, so it gets good use. There are 3 length settings: 13' 3"/ 14' 0"/ 14' 9". I think I have mine set to the middle setting.

Those old Caddys are huge! Very cool ride to have.
