hey everyone this started about 2 weeks ago and has gotten worse and im not sure what it could be. when i go to start the car ill turn the key to acc and everything will light up without a problem as soon as i turn it to the ignition to start the car you hear the starter do 1 click and then the car will go dead. ill turn the key back and ill only have 8 volts. i put a trickle charge on it over night and itll do the same thing the next day. when the car is at rest i took the positive lead off the battery and put my meter in series and im getting 5.1 amps and i pulled all fuses and relays in both fuse boxes (1 at a time of course) and still read 5.1 amps so i dont know if thats the problem.
i got the car running once by jump starting the car using the battery pack things and took off the negative lead and the car still ran and im getting 13.9 volts at the battery so i know its not the alternator. the battery holds the charge when its not hooked up and its only acouple months old so im ruling that out. when the car has 8-10 volts and i try to turn it over the starter just sounds like the thing is spazing out so im thinking it could be that. i bought a used 1 off of a friend for $50 bucks but i was wondering if i could get some opinions before i waste my time jacking my car up and crawling under there to replace it. any help is very appreciated thanks.

What did you buy used from a friend? Starter maybe?

Either the battery has a dead cell, which I am putting money on. Or you have very poor connections at the battery and/or grounded to the body causing the issues you have. First and cheapest/easiest thing to do is take the battery out, go get it tested which they should do a load test, that will tell you the health of it.

The fact you said, " ill turn the key to acc and everything will light up without a problem as soon as i turn it to the ignition to start the car you hear the starter do 1 click and then the car will go dead. ill turn the key back and ill only have 8 volts. i put a trickle charge on it over night and itll do the same thing the next day", this tells me the battery have a dead cell. Even though its newer, does not mean its not the problem.

YUP! it was a bad cell lol took it out took it to advanced auto after a full day and night of charging and it said that it was only putting out 327 amps on a 600cca battery. they charged it for 45 mins and it only put out 450cca so i got a new 1 under warranty and its been great for 3 days now. thanks alot guys really appreciate it
